Watersprite welcomes new trustees ready for 16th year.
Watersprite Film Festival is delighted to appoint three new trustees to support in the charity's expansion. Film and TV publicity role model Kat Blair, Lee & Thompson partner Nick Swimer and award-winning Producer, Writer and Watersprite Alumnae Helen Simmons.
Run by young people for young people, the Watersprite Film Festival has grown into the World's largest student film festival and become the home for emerging talent both in the UK and internationally. As a charity, Watersprite has reached over 100,000 filmmakers from 120 countries and is showing no signs of slowing down as the demand for support into the industry grows.
Following over 2,000 submissions, and the development of a brand new free training scheme for emerging filmmakers in the UK, Watersprite welcomes three new trustees to join its board of industry professionals committed to supporting the future of film. New members include Kat Blair, TV and Film publicist whose work compromises award-winning HETV projects such as Bridgerton, I Hate Suzie, and Patrick Melrose, Nick Swimer, Commercial and Film & TV Partner for Lee & Thompson, and Helen Simmons, Watersprite Alumnae, writer and producer, most recently known for Last Swim (Winner of the Crystal Bear, Berlinale 2024), Bonus Track (Sky) and Hoard (dir. Luna Carmoon).
The new members will join the existing board, helmed by the long-running Festival Chair, Hilary Bevan Jones. On the appointment of the newest trustees, Hilary said:
“We are delighted to welcome Helen, Kat and Nick onto the Board. Their skills and expertise will give us the guidance to take the Charity to the next level, ensuring we continue to provide access and opportunities plus support for the most exciting new filmmakers from around the world.”
Watersprite Film Festival will take place in Cambridge and online from March 7th - 9th, 2025. Free tickets will be released soon.
