Looking to start your career in the film industry? Feel like you just don’t know where to start? Watersprite Hubs helps talented emerging filmmakers who have faced disadvantage in entering the industry to develop their skills and take their next steps towards a career in film.
Watersprite Hubs is a free training programme for emerging filmmakers from across the UK. Taking place at HOME in Manchester on 29th November 2025, Hubs is for filmmakers 18+, who identify as “emerging” and have faced disadvantage in entering the industry.
Watersprite Hubs provides participants with:
Intimate, curated workshops in your chosen Strand*
Creative Careers Marketplace
Travel bursaries to ensure you are able to attend the in-person workshops
Accommodation in Manchester to aid your travel
Community building and networking opportunities
*All workshops will be led by industry professionals.

We are now looking for UK-based emerging artists to join us as a part of the Watersprite Hubs 2025 Cohort for the below Strands:
Scripted (incl. Writers, Directors and Producers)
Unscripted (incl. Directors and Producers)
Cinematography
Editing
Art Department
Music Department

Watersprite Hubs will take place on Saturday 29th November between 10:00AM - 16:30PM at HOME in Manchester.
All participants will have access to travel bursaries and accommodation in Manchester to facilitate their being able to join us.

To apply to Watersprite Hubs 2025, you must currently meet the following criteria:
Be currently based in the UK
Aged 18+ from November 29th 2025
We will be particularly prioritising applications from filmmakers who face disadvantage in entering the film industry due to any of the below experiences:
Disability and/or Chronic illness (incl. Neurdivergent)
Maternity/Childcare responsibilities
Caring responsibilities
Discrimination based on race, gender and/or sexuality
Low income/Working Class background
